Majority of Russians believe Russia is among 10 most corrupt countries

MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - In the view of 59% of Russian citizens, Russia is among the first ten countries in terms of corruption among state officials. Another 14% believes it is between 10th and 50th place in this regard, and only 5% suppose Russia is among the least corrupt countries.

The Public Opinion Foundation distributed this information on Thursday after conducting a representative poll of 1,500 urban and rural citizens on January 26.
corrupt. 18% of respondents take the view that only half of Russian officials are corrupt, and only 7% believe that a minor share of state officials are involved in corruption.
In the view of the majority of those polled, corruption has penetrated "virtually all structures where officials serve" - from the top federal power bodies to housing and utility services and consumer service establishments. When asked in what services, organizations, and institutions corruption is most widespread, 55% of the respondents named the police, customs, and law enforcement agencies, 36% the road police, 37% the courts and prosecution services, 24% the top federal power bodies, and 22% local power bodies.
In the view of 57% of Russians, corruption is impossible to uproot, while 34% believe this can be accomplished.
